About
Rubén Hornillo is a Spanish-Cuban filmmaker and creative executive at Clan, the children’s channel of RTVE, Spain’s public broadcaster and a global leader in Spanish-language content. A member of the Producers Guild of America, Rubén spent 14 years in Los Angeles producing, directing, and editing for film and television. His first major project, God’s Slave—an Argentina-Venezuela-Uruguay co-production—earned accolades at festivals such as Santa Barbara and Huelva, and enjoyed theatrical distribution.
Having lived and worked in Spain, Istanbul, South Korea, and Los Angeles, Rubén brings a global perspective and a strong interest in multicultural storytelling and social impact. He helped launch KBS World Latino, the Spanish-language channel of Korea’s public broadcaster, and led original production at LaMusica, a video-forward streaming platform by SBS. With his production company Yo Creo Content, Rubén produced and distributed foreign-language, award-winning documentaries like Spanish Exile and Matta Checks to universities in the US.
Rubén’s works include editorial and marketing work for major platforms and titles—In the Heights (Warner Bros/HBO Max), Acapulco (Apple TV+), and Monarca (Netflix)—as well as unscripted franchises like The Real World. He is also a member of the Archival Producers Alliance, the Video Consortium, and The D-Word, and continues to champion cross-cultural narratives through both independent and broadcast media.
